Here is a video of Barnetog, or the Children’s Parade from May 17th in Oslo. Syttende Mai, Nasjonaldagen av Norge i Oslo. :) You can find many more similar videos from towns and cities all over Norway, just search on youtube :)
Thursday was 17. Mai. Norway’s Constitution Day! :) You can read about it here: http://www.norway.org/ARCHIVE/culture/heritage/nationalday/ I made these traditional Norwegian Butter Cookies with some colored sugar for added decoration as my way of celebrating this special country of Norway! I think next year I will look into some Celebrations in Chicago, not too far from where I live. There seems to be a small Norwegian community there :)
P.s. Sorry for the terrible cell phone quality! I have not upgraded to a smart phone yet :p ;)
Here is a picture of me with everything that we bought, and the dinner that I made :) I included my Viking Drinking Horn in the picture. Was a gift for my 21st birthday! (The official drinking age here in the US! ;))
here is a picture of Swedish Ikea brand Hazel Nut chocolate (as well as milk and dark). I just fell IN LOVE with it!! I’ll be going back to Ikea soon to buy as much as I can! One thing I forgot to mention is how CHEAP Ikea is!!! These large chocolate bars only cost 99 cents!!I would definitely recommend everyone to try some if they have an Ikea anywhere near them! (The nearest one to me is a 45 minute drive, but it’s well worth it!) The interior decorating in the store of all of the bedroom and kitchens is too cute! Maybe I’ll snap a few pictures next time I go and post them. :)
Wanted to share with you all a meal I made a month ago or so. Swedish meatballs, asparagus, lingonberrry jam and mashed potatoes. All thanks to my first ever Ikea trip! (I know this is a Norway blog, but let’s just make a quick exception!! ;)) Mom went out of town so I had a few friends over for dinner and drinks. We bought Lingonberry concentrate juice, and came up with a simple mixed drink with vodka!! ;)
The next morning I discovered that Lingon Saft (Lingonberry Jam from Ikea) is delicious when substituted for jelly on a peanut butter and lingonberry jam sandwich! <33 Now THATS something I bet no Norwegian would think to do!!
So much to point out in this video. But I think instead I will let you just enjoy :) any questions, just ask!
The wildlife of Norwegian fjords.
Dyrelivet i norske fjorder.
I hope that you don’t mind, I’ll probably be reblogging a lot of your posts Csandvik! :) Maybe we can partner up?? So excited for your new Norway blog and glad that I could provide some inspiration!!! Norway is truly beautiful… :)
want to go there so bad!
This is Ålesund i Møre og Romsdal County. on 23 Januari 1904 there was a fire, destroying the city and its wooden houses and buildings. The town was rebuilt in this Art Noveau style and is a popular tourist destination due to its history and its proximity to Geiranger Fjord. :) I’d love to visit here in the summertime!
